LODGING
While in town you will stay either in a hotel (in Manaus we usually stay at the Manaus Ibis hotel) or a small guesthouse (Santa Elena de Uairén). Both have hot shower, air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Once hiking/in the field we try to make the journey as comfortable as possible, keeping a nice balance between comfort and adventure. Remember that you will camp in the wild, in remote places were showers are not available. We almost always camp close to running water where you can shower using biodegradable soap. Accommodations are in expedition tents and our base camp amenities include a dining tent. While hiking to our final base camp we will stay in “hotels” (natural camping sites located in cave-like environments, well protected from the elements). Toilets are installed at each camp (no human waste is left after us).
We drink filtered pure water from the mountain and a cook will prepare delicious local food, which can be brought to your tent if you prefer some privacy. Coffee and tea are available all day long.
